Explore key messages and applications of attachment theory for practitioners who work with children and families. This webinar will examine developments in the theory over recent years and what this means for those using it.

Learning outcomes

As a result of taking part in this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the key components of secure base, safe haven, sensitivity and alarming behaviour and how these can guide practice with children and families.
  • Have knowledge of how attachment theory has developed and at times is misapplied in social care practice. 
  • Recognise other socio-economic factors which may impact on a child’s attachment relationships.
  • Be aware of the bias in attachment research and representation.
