Identifying and strengthening responses to intrafamilial child sexual abuse

Identifying and strengthening responses to intrafamilial child sexual abuse
Delivered online using Teams
12:00 - 13:30 Monday, 3 March 2025
In November 2024, the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel published a report entitled I wanted them all to notice: Protecting children and responding to child sexual abuse within the family environment. The report sheds light on the realities of this form of abuse, the challenges professionals face in identifying and responding to it, providing ten key recommendations for systemic change.
In partnership with the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse, this webinar will explore key findings from the report, providing an opportunity to discuss the research, reflect on strengths and challenges in practice, and consider how we can act on the recommendations.
With a focus on practitioner confidence and professional resilience, we will highlight practical tools and resources from Research in Practice and the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse to support immediate action.
Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of the issues, resources to strengthen their practice, and clear next steps to enhance their ability to notice, respond, and safeguard children.
Learning Outcomes
As a result of taking part in this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Reflect on the relevance of the research findings to their own practice.
- Identify tools and learning opportunities to build confidence in improving identification and responses to intrafamilial child sexual abuse.
- Develop an action plan outlining steps they will take to enhance their practice in line with the recommendations of the report, including areas for further learning or support.
