The ‘Learn and deliver’ programme is designed to support individuals providing learning and development in organisations.
Develop your knowledge of learning theory, support online facilitation skills and discuss how to develop your own bespoke sessions.

The series of events will give learning and development colleagues the tools, knowledge and confidence to deliver learning sessions based on Research in Practice resources.

Who is it for
The programme is designed for Research in Practice Partners in learning and development teams who are responsible for supporting learning and delivering sessions in their organisations. Â
How does it work
There are two types of events. Upcoming sessions are listed below:
Learning theory Â
These sessions aim to develop your understanding of different approaches to learning, to build capacity within your organisation. They are designed for learning and development colleagues.
The programme of two-hour sessions will focus on:  Â
- Developing a resilient learning organisation.Â
- Evaluating the impact of learning events.Â
- Alternative ways of learning.Â
- Growing your online facilitation skills.Â
Deliver it yourself Â
Designed to provide guidance to learning and development staff about how to independently develop their own sessions.
These two-hour events will use Research in Practice materials, resources and activities to deliver sessions on:Â
- Analysis and critical thinking.Â
- Trauma-informed approaches.Â
- Equity and intersectionality.Â
- Practitioner resilience and wellbeing.Â
Developing a resilient learning organisation – 10:00-12:00, 9 September 2025
As a result of attending this workshop you will be able to:
- Explain the links between learning and wellbeing to develop resilient learning organisations.
- Use Research in Practice tools and resources to support resilient learning organisations.
- Appraise how colleagues have used Research in Practice resources to create their own tools for learning and development in their organisation.
Evaluating the impact of learning events – 10:00-12:00, 20 November 2025
As a result of attending this workshop you will be able to:
- Explain the reasons we should evaluate the impact of learning events.
- Compare different models for evaluating impact.
- Select an appropriate method to measure different levels of impact.
- Plan to overcome barriers to meaningful evaluation.
Alternative ways of learning – 10:00-12:00, 26 February 2026
As a result of attending this workshop you will be able to:
- Explain different approaches to learning and how they can support continuing professional development.
- Examine informal and formal ways of learning
- Discuss how different approaches to learning can be implemented in your organisation.
Growing online facilitation – 10:00-12:00, 21 April 2026
As a result of attending this workshop you will be able to:
- Understand a range of facilitation skills and how they can be used to support learning.
- Identify the similarities and differences between online and in-person learning
- Evaluate the benefits and risks of using technology to facilitate effecting learning opportunities online.
- Discuss experiences and ideas about developing and delivering sessions.
- Hear from peers about their experiences and learn from their successes (and mistakes!).
- Discuss Research in Practice resources, activities and tools that can be used to support learning sessions.Â
