To support professionals working with disabled children, adults with learning disabilities and their families, Research in Practice has released several new open access resources and events for Learning Disability Week.
Families of disabled children and adults with learning disabilities who are requesting support can become confused by varying service approaches and assessment models. Statutory duties are set out in overlapping pieces of legislation and professionals need to interpret different eligibility criteria for a range of assessments and services in often-fragmented systems.
For Learning Disability Week, we have released new learning resources and events to support professionals working in children’s and adults’ social care.
Explore the challenges faced by disabled children and families when requesting support and examine local authorities’ statutory responsibilities when assessing needs and providing services. A new briefing looks at the benefits of adopting a strengths-based and needs-led approach.
A series of open access webinars offer learning for managers and commissioners and frontline practitioners when supporting parents with learning disabilities.
A new resource, co-published by Research in Practice and Council for Disabled Children, explores the challenges faced by disabled children and families when requesting support. It also examines local authorities’ statutory responsibilities when assessing needs, applying eligibility criteria, and providing services.
The briefing looks at the benefits of adopting a strengths-based and needs-led approach to assessment and key features of a needs-led eligibility framework and how this can inform a lawful and transparent approach to providing services for disabled children and their families.
Learn about how adult social workers can support parents with learning disabilities.
Open access webinars for managers and commissioners and frontline practitioners will share findings from a National Institute for Health and Care Research School for Social Care study that worked with five local authorities.
